About SafeRides

Welcome to SafeRides! The SafeRides program was started by two LGHS seniors 14 years ago in the wake of the loss of a popular senior, Eric Quesada, as a way for teens to get a safe ride home. We operate out of Cafe Hope at the United Methodist church every Friday night when school is in session from 10:00pm to 1:00 am. Our goal is to give teens who may not be in a state to drive, or do not want to get a ride home with someone whose actions might put them in danger, a safe ride home. SafeRides is run BY teens and FOR teens. This is a completely confidential program. What you see, hear or experience during your volunteer time at SafeRides never leaves Cafe Hope. A breach of this rule will not be tolerated.

Please contact us at lgsaferides@gmail.com for more information.

Congratulations 2015-2016 board members for a successful SafeRides school year.  You cared about your peers and were great role models for your school and community.

“I love saferides so much because it actually works, I’ve seen it in action, and if it saves just one person from driving under the influence (which it has) then it’s worth it.”

Hyuntae Byun

“I enjoy volunteering with SafeRides because we often get into these long-winded philosophical discussions. For example, once when I was volunteering we got into a huge discussion about evolution and the future of the human race. It is always fun to interact with others and learn new things. Since there’s such a diverse group of volunteers, it’s easy to get a broad range of input and advice on classes to take, school activities to participate in, or general life concerns.”

Glickman Award
